Vavi warns unions will intensify pressure on govt

Unions (Saftu) Zwelinzima Vavi has warned that mass action will intensify ahead
of the mid-term budget in October and next year's State of the Nation Address.

Vavi spoke at a media briefing on Monday ahead of Wednesday’s national shutdown.
He said that the federation will force the government to change the strategies it's been pursuing for 28 years. Post to this 24 hours, the working class formations will be meeting to assess what the government response is.
“We are going to move more and so the same and sustain the same programmes of actions for a long period as its necessary to force the government to change their current strategies that they've been pursuing for 28 years."
Trade union giant, Cosatu says its members are ready for Wednesday’s national strike.

In KZN, workers will gather at King Dinuzulu Park at around 9am and march to City Hall, where they'll submit a memorandum of demands.
Meanwhile, the province's taxi council Santaco says it will not be taking part in the shutdown for now.
