Vandalism slows down efforts to restore water: Ugu

Ugu authorities are confident households that are still without water will have their supply restored by the close of business today.
A blockage at the municipality's main Bhobhoyi reservoir last month saw many parts of the south coast experiencing interruptions, some lasting around two weeks.
Technicians and other experts were brought in to fix the problem.

Acting municipal spokesperson, Zimbini Mpurwana says repairs were dealt a second blow by vandalism and cable theft at the Nositha reservoir.

She says this has affected Nositha, the Margate CBD and Margate extensions three and seven.
"The cables that we use to pump water to our closest reservoir, there has been two cases of vandalism. The investigation is underway and it does affect a huge community when this happens unfortunately and this is one of the instances that happened two days ago and we have to deal with it. It's between Ugu and Eskom," she said.
