Urinating student Theuns du Toit to face criminal charges
Updated | By Newswatch
The National Prosecuting Authority has announced it intends prosecuting former Stellenbosch student Theuns Du Toit.
Du Toit is accused of urinating on the belongings of fellow student Babalo Ndwayana in May.
Shortly after the incident went viral after it was captured on video, Ndwayana's family pushed for criminal charges to be laid against Du Toit, who urinated on Ndwayana's desk, laptop and other study material.
The university has since expelled Du Toit for contravening the university's disciplinary code for students.
NPA spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila says Du Toit will face two charges.
“The NPA has decided it will prosecute the accused in this matter on malicious damage to property and crimen injuria, but has asked the investigating officer to finalise his investigation before the matter is placed on the roll.”
