UPDATE: Police disperse Melmoth protesters
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
Police spokesperson Thulani Zwane says officers were called to the turn-off to Ulundi in the early hours this morning to find the road barricaded with rocks and burning tyres.
"Members dispersed the crowd by using rubber bullets. It is not yet clear why they were protesting but police are still monitoring the area" said Zwane.
About 20 people have been arrested on charges of public violence. Zwane says 2 people were hurt during the protest, but it's unclear how they were wounded.
