Unsuccessful matrics encouraged to enter support programme
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
KZN Education has urged Grade 12s, who didn't pass their NSC papers last year, to please sign up for its Second Chance Matric Support Programme.
The department says under the free programme, pupils will be given the opportunity to rewrite their exams in November.
"They are disappointed but they must now deal with that. The reality is that they have not made it. They must pick themselves up and join the Second Chance Matric Support Programme. One day, they will not regret marching forward," he says.
The department's Muzi Mahlambi says they'll release details on the centres they can go to - to enrol for classes - in about two weeks.
Grade 12s in KZN achieved a pass rate of 72.8%.
The closing date for applications of the supplementary exams is 31 January for the June exams intake. While candidates who want to sit for their exams in November have until 15 June to apply.
