UniZulu to comply with Higher Education probe

The University of Zululand says it will comply with the Higher Education Department's directive  for an independent forensic investigation into allegations of fraud and corruption at the institution.

One of the allegations is that Vice-Chancellor, Xoliswa Mtose's appointment was fraudulent.

Minister Naledi Pandor has given the university until September to submit reports on the outcome of each issue being investigated, as well as what action has been taken regarding those who have been implicated.

The university's Gcina Nhleko says the probe is an opportunity to set the record straight and for the truth to be known.

"Management, council, staff and students are giving the investigation their unconditional support so it can proceed in a fair and open manner," she said.
