Members affiliated to federations - COSATU, SAFTU and FEDUSA - are downing tools over issues ranging from unemployment to corruption to gender-based violence.

COSATU's Sizwe Pamla says in KZN - they've planned activities in Durban, Newcastle, Manguzi and Ladysmith, but are asking workers to show solitary by staying at home because of the coronavirus pandemic.

"We have a situation where we have seen money stolen from UIF tax funds and at the same time money budgeted during the COVID-19 lockdown for PPEs. This is something we don't accept.

"Workers are not responsible for any of what is happening, so we see no reason why workers should be the ones being punished."

Saftu's General Secretary Zwelinzima Vavi says the unions will be handing over a list demands in the different provinces.

"We can now see that schools to our public hospitals and police - they are all dysfunctional. We have seen enough. We want better wages, and no workers to earn below R12 500. We want the rich to pay more taxes."

Fedusa general secretary Riefdah Ajam says they don't expect any disruptions during tomorrow's mass action.

"Tomorrow is intended to be peaceful because we are equally observing the lockdown protocols.

"The majority of the actions will be by motorcade where we will be showing our solidarity for the process and there will be memorandums that will be handed over at strategic locations."
