Unemployment rate jumps to a record high in SA

South Africa's joblessness rate has hit its highest level in more than a decade.

It rose by 1.7 percentage points to 32.5 % in the last three months of 2020.
According to Stats SA, over 700 000 more people were out of work between October and December compared to the third quarter.
It took the number of unemployed to 7.2 million.

The highest joblessness rates were among the age groups 15 to 24 and 25 to 34 at 63.2% and 41.2% respectively.
