uMsunduzi warns corrupt public servants
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
uMsunduzi Municipality has vowed to intensify its efforts to curb fraud and corruption.

This follows the arrest and court appearance of a senior salary officer on fraud and corruption charges amounting to just under a million rand.
The 34-year-old employee, Andile Mkhize, appeared in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
He faces 50 charges relating to the manipulating of the payroll system amounting to about R948 000 between October 2018 and September 2019.
The matter was remanded to 21 September for a bail application.
The municipality’s Ntobeko Mkhize says they're following the case closely.
"The municipality has taken a hard stand on maladministration, on corruption and fraud done employees. The municipality is not willing to tolerate that because it gives a negative image on the municipality and it disrupts the municipality's effort to do its work and also good governance.
“The municipality does welcome the arrest and is also following the case to ensure that justice is served," Mkhize says.
