uMsunduzi vows to continue disconnections despite court interdict

uMsunduzi is continuing with its disconnection drive as it tries to tackle illegal connections and recover payments from businesses with unpaid utility bills.
It says it plans on responding to a recent court interdict that ordered it to restore services.
The city's Ntobeko Mkhize says they're studying the judgment.
She's appealed to customers to settle a portion of their debt, at least.
One of them is the Ingonyama Trust which owes the city some R8 million for rates.

Mkhize says they'll be moving ahead with their plans to cut debtors off.
"It must be stated on record that the order is a temporary one also the municipality intends to do a response because there will be another sitting for a permanent order which has been applied for.
“The drive is not affected in any way, the municipality confirm that this campaign has really been positive. The city has already collected over R100 million and we intend to intensify it."
