Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
uMngeni-uThukela Water says it's completed the repair work at the Durban Heights Water Treatment Plant ahead of schedule.
It had planned an 18-hour shutdown to remove a steel metal plate from a bulk pipeline.
The utility's Siyabonga Maphumulo says the repairs are part of efforts to fix bulk water infrastructure that was damaged during the floods in April last year.

“The plant has already begun production this afternoon, and we expect that full production will resume from 6pm this evening. This is 2 hours ahead, initially scheduled 8pm. "
"We urge the community to use the water sparingly in order to allow the system to fully recover in the shortest possible time.”
