uMngeni mayor-elect Chris Pappas says residents of the Midlands municipality should expect unbelievable change from the incoming Democratic Alliance (DA) government.
The party has won the municipality from the ANC with an outright majority.
It held a victory rally at Goddard Park in Howick on Wednesday.
Pappas, who says he has already put together a plan for his first 100 days in office, has been addressing residents.
"We promise the people of uMgeni five things, we said we want a growing economy and jobs. We want an environment that is clean. We want safer communities.
"We promised better infrastructure and to maintain what we have and we promised a responded and transparent government."
uMngeni is the first-ever municipality the DA will govern in KwaZulu-Natal.
"This is a warning to any municipal official who has been caught up with corruption. You better not be there when we take office.
"This is your warning, but to any municipal official who is dedicated and hardworking, we are here to make your job easy. we are here to deliver services to every community of uMngeni."
