Umlazi water to be fully restored by Thursday - Kaunda
Updated | By Sandile Bhengu
eThekwini Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda says the city is working to have Umlazi's water supply fully restored by Thursday.
The Durban south area's sections Z, AA and BB have been hit by water outages after the Umlazi 4 Pump Station was vandalised over a week ago.
The station pumps water to the Umlazi 5 Reservoir and had recently started operating again after undergoing repairs.
On Sunday, fed-up community members were up in arms over the latest supply interruptions.

Kaunda visited the pump station on Tuesday to check on the progress of the repair work.
"I am also making a commitment with the council that on Sunday, we will have a public meeting to get details on what transpired on-site, what the challenges are and what we expect from community members to protect their own assets.
"When we leave such assets to the community, we expect that the community members will also take responsibility that there will be security that will be deployed here.
"So we will be talking to them about those issues, but also outlining plans that the municipality has to mitigate in the meantime; then there will be a permanent work that will be done to ensure that we supply all areas."
