Umlazi refuse to be collected from today
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Services were disrupted this past week - after the company contracted to remove rubbish in the township apparently received threats.
The eThekwini municipality has not provided details into the nature of the threats only saying the threats were made by a group of people in the area.
Yesterday some workers could be seen removing waste along Mangosuthu Highway but other sections in the heart of the township were still littered with uncollected refuse.
In a statement eThekwini mayor, James Nxumalo, says they will not allow business interests to disrupt the provision of services.
The city also says municipal officials will visit UMlazi to ensure everything is back to normal.
