The uMhlathuze Municipality says it's begun investigations into yesterday's sewage spill into the Mzingazi canal and river.

The city says the spillage was a
result of human error, as technicians had been busy with maintenance in the
area.
Areas affected include Meerensee, Mzingazi ,as well as the Waterfront - although clean-up operations started immediately.
The city's Mdu Ncalane says residents need not panic, as the spillage has not reached treated water.
"The indications that there was not much spillage that happened so we can assure residents that the water is safe to drink and that there is no other hazardous material that might cause any health hazard in that particular water," he said.
