Umhlathuze, council in talks over illegal housing
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
The uMhlathuze Municipality says it will continue its discussions with Amakhosi and Traditional Councils in Ngwelezane on the allocation of housing sites on municipal land without Council's approval.

The northern KZN municipality was yesterday forced to demolish two illegally erected structures near the Ngwelezane Police Station.
They'd obtained an urgent High Court order in February, preventing construction and occupation, but the houses were built.
The municipality's Mdu Ncalane says notices were pasted on the structures informing their occupiers of the court order as they were unknown and could not be directly approached.
"It's illegal to erect any form of structure in the country without having the authority because that land is not zoned for any residential area. It's on a servitude - the water valve pipe next to the structures was demolished yesterday," he said.
