Umhlanga brothel case postponed
The case against five of the nine suspects arrested on suspicion of running a brothel in Umhlanga has been postponed to Thursday.
They were taken into custody following a raid on Friday night at Lady Ellen Crescent.
The NPA's Natasha Ramkisson-Kara says the five appeared in the Durban Magistrate's Court today.
Ramkisson-Kara says all but one, who is a Nigerian national, have been granted bail.
"They face charges ranging from keeping a brothel, benefiting from the proceeds of prostitution, dealing and possession of drugs as well as money laundering. They were given bail of R10 000 and R20 000 respectively, as well as a R1 000 - and the matter was remanded to Thursday for verification of accused number two's residential status," she said.
The remaining four suspects are due in the same court tomorrow.
