uMgungundlovu urges residents to settle water bills
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The uMgungundlovu District Municipality is sitting with a debt of R600-million in unpaid water services.

It is urging its residents and businesses to pay all outstanding water bills.
This was revealed during an Umgeni Water tour at Midmar Dam in the Midlands yesterday.
The municipality's Bheki Mbambo says uMgungundlovu services six smaller municipalities, which compounds the issue.
"Some of these areas, if you go to people's houses, you will notice they are becoming semi-urban. Why then, when they can afford DSTV, airtime and [other luxuries], are they not paying for water?"
"We need to start reducing this deby which is getting bigger and bigger every day."
