uMgungundlovu receives praise for high COVID-19 recovery rate

The Deputy Minister of Public Service and Administration has heaped praise on uMgungundlovu, saying its public health facilities have made major strides in fighting COVID-19.

The district has recorded the second-highest number of infections in KZN after eThekwini - with a recovery rate of around 90%.
While visiting one of the health facilities in uMgungundlovu today - Sindisiwe Chikunga said frontline workers had gone above and beyond to not only save the lives of others but also theirs.
"The proactiveness now in which the district is dealing with the issue is commendable.

"This institution, Imbalenhle Community Health Care Clinic has not had any staff member dying, for me, it's an achievement."
"They are able to transfer those patients that require intensive care to Edendale well on time to the extent that there aren't any patients that died here at the clinic, it means they know what to do and when to take decisions," said Chikunga.
