Umgeni Water executive gunned down in Westville

Umgeni Water has confirmed that one of its officials has been shot dead.

The organisation's Shami Harichunder says it's understood that Xolani Chamane was gunned down in Westville on Thursday night.
Chamane was a qualified engineer involved in infrastructure development.
He also served on the executive committee board.

Harichunder says information on the incident is limited at this stage.
"Information given to Umgeni Water indicates that his body has been identified. Police are working closely with the family in order to try to get down to what actually occurred and how it occurred."
KZN police have been contacted to provide more details.
