Umgeni Water declares Midmar Dam safe for swimmers
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Umgeni Water says the levels of E.coli in the Midmar Dam are extremely low, alleviating concerns by some people training for the aQuellé Midmar Mile.

The Midmar Mile will be taking place on Saturday and Sunday.
Organisers say they'd received reports that some people were worried about the quality of the water, after a wastewater spill last year.

They've reassured participants saying the spillage was on the other side of the dam and was contained - and it doesn't pose a health risk to swimmers.
Umgeni Water's Shami Harichunder agrees. He says they've checked the water and more tests will be done today.
