Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Umalusi says reported cases of fake qualifications are on the rise.

CEO Mafu Rakometsi was speaking at a briefing on the exam quality assurer's readiness for this year's final matric exams on Friday.
Rakometsi warned it's a criminal offence to misrepresent a qualification and anyone caught will face dire consequences.
"You fake a certificate and you are caught, you are going to find yourself at a different university and that is prison. Because some people say it's varsity."

Grade 12s will start sitting for the National Senior Certificate exams in just over two weeks' time.
Umalusi's Senior Manager for Evaluation and Accreditation, Louise Madalane, said measures are being taken to ensure the quality of the exams.
"This is one of the most crucial parts that informs the preparedness of the assessment bodies for the product admin and management of the final year examination.
"How they are printing, packaging and storage and distribution of examination material its planned for. Because this can be the missing link. If the printing, packaging, storage, and distribution is not well taken care, we may find question papers leaking, we may find answer books leaking."
