Students from UKZN Howard College say they're planning to mobilise for a mass demonstration next week.

Adamant in their quest for free education, some boycotted classes yesterday.

Mandla Mbuyazi, a Fees Must Fall activist, says they'll go to student residences today in a bid to consolidate all campuses in preparation for their planned mass demonstration on the Howard College campus.
Yesterday, students dismissed the SRC saying that it had dealt with only one of the 39 issues detailed in a memorandum that was handed to management.
"We are now demanding that the university guarantees us that we will not be excluded on the basis of our economic statuses.
"We want the 'Shagville TRC' which is based on justice for all the students that have been part of 'Fees Must Fall' that are suspended, interdicted and expelled with court cases," he said.
Students embarked on a week-long protest this week following the announcement that universities will independently determine the fee increase - however that it be capped at 8%.
With the violence escalating - students and police clashed yesterday at UKZN Pietermaritzburg's campus -resulting in one scholar getting shot by what's thought to have been a rubber bullet. While at Wits University - a stand-off between students and security saw stones being thrown in both directions outside the institution's Great Hall.
