Vice-Chancellor and Principal Nana Poku has announced the institution has secured R17.5 million in funding.

Spokesperson Normah Zondo says the remaining amount will go towards the institution's Sexual and Gender-Based Violence project.

"R2.5 million of the total funding will be dedicated to a crucial cause – the creation and operation of the GBV secretariat as mandated by the recently adopted UKZN SGBV strategy.

“In line with that strategy and as announced in March this year, a specialised hub for addressing issues of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence will be established within the Office of the Vice-Chancellor.”
