The University of Kwa-Zulu Natal is investigating reports of a massive student accommodation scam at the institution.

The Sunday Times is reporting that an underground network of UKZN staff and former SRC officials have allegedly extorted as much as R80 million from landlords renting accommodation to students.
According to the Sunday Times a group of six people have been arrested.
The group includes three UKZN staff members, two former SRC presidents and one SRC member based at the Howard College campus.
In a statement to Newswatch, the university says an internal team is dealing with the matter.
But it adds it cannot comment further due to the sensitive nature of the investigation.
The institution has stressed it has a strict zero-tolerance stance towards corruption.
