UKZN to assess further before resuming lectures
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
UKZN says it will assess the situation on all its campuses before deciding whether to resume lectures next week.

The academic programme ground to a halt at the Westville, Edgewood, Pietermaritzburg and Howard College campuses this week after violent student protests erupted. Students are demanding free education for post-grad students who had previously received NSFAS assistance, better security at leased residences and WiFi hotspots at all residences.
UKZN's Norma Zondo says they have been addressing some of the issues since the beginning of the year.
For now, she says they're focused on getting lectures back on track.
"At the moment we do not know so we will wait till Monday to see if student leadership will come forward to negotiate with management", she said.
"We will then look at an academic catch-up plan once we know exactly when the academic programme will resume", Zondo said.
