UJ clashes land several students in hospital
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Several students at the university of Johannesburg have been taken to hospital after they were injured during clashes with security guards at the Kingsway campus.
It is believed workers were camping outside the gates of the campus earlier today in a peaceful protest against outsourcing until about 50 students forced their way through the gates which were locked.
This student says she saw one of her peers bleeding from the head.
''I don't know what they hit him with - the police came to help the security guards. It's between the police and the Fidelity guards because there's a mixture of them but they are all involved and we can't really tell them apart.
''I'm in possession of footage of a Fidelity officer hitting into the crowd and then grabbing on students,'' she said.
