The municipality of Ugu says it's too soon to take any action against some officials fingered in a KZN COGTA report for maladministration and fraud to the tune of millions.
The report also found the South Coast municipality to be over staffed by more than 300 employees. The Municipal System Act allows for an excess of no more than 21.
The report also mentions tender fraud and wasteful expenditure of around R45 million while recommending disciplinary action be taken against its municipal manager.
Municipal spokesperson France Zama says they are still building cases against some.
"We will be taking action against those implicated. At this point though we cannot say for certain how things will play out", he said.
"That is why we cannot take action against some till we have secured concrete evidence against those implicated", Zama said.
