Ugu officials working 'tirelessly' to solve area's water woes
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Officials from the Ugu
District Municipality say they're working tirelessly to resolve ongoing water
supply problems in parts of the south coast.

Several areas, including Port Shepstone, have experienced significant outages with some lasting over a week.
Residents and businesses say the lack of water's left them in a desperate situation.
Ugu's France Zama says there were significant breaks in the northern pipeline system.
"The past couple of days we've been trying to resuscitate the water supply system that is supplying areas from Umtentweni up to Hibberdene and progress has been made in some areas where the water supply has been restored and we are in the process of recovering water supply to the area that is being supplied through the mobile system. Other major breaks have hindered our progress."
The municipality says, in the meantime, static water tanks are being replenished daily.
Zama says they are also working on a long-term solution.

"In terms of our turn-around plan is the replacement of all of our ageing water infrastructure which has proven unable to carry us. The demand that comes with water supply is currently growing.
The KZN South Coast Tourism group says while the water supply remains a challenge, the issue is limited to certain areas and several tourism establishments have made provisions.
