Ugu municipality confident it will have clean water by festive season

Ugu officials are promising clean water made to residents and holidaymakers planning on heading to KZN's south coast.

Locals have been plagued by water problems for two years, leading to holiday bookings being cancelled and long queues for water.
The municipality's currently having trouble with desalination, the process that separates water from salt and other impurities.

Spokesperson, France Zama explained that the rising sea levels push sea water up into the Umzimkhulu River, causing an additional buildup of salt and dirt.
He says scientists are looking at how to work around the problem.

Zama says they're confident that come the festive season there'll be enough clean water for everyone.
