UCT students appear in court after violent protests
Eight students from the University of Cape Town have appeared in court following violent protests at the university yesterday.
The #RhodesMustFall supporters staged a protest to express their concerns over the university's lack of accommodation for students from poorer backgrounds.
The university has expressed concern over the safety of both staff and students after property was damaged, artwork from residences were stolen and set on fire including a car and a shuttle bus.
The university's Max Price public order police will patrol the grounds of the institution to ensure that these incidents don't occur again.
The students may face suspension.
