Two UKZN lecturers arrested at PMB campus
Updated | By Lucky Khanyile
The University of KwaZulu-Natal says two lecturers who were arrested earlier today at the Pietermaritzburg campus - were wrongfully arrested.
Dr Clint Le Bruyn from UKZN's Theology & Development Programme, and Jane Quin from the Education Department, were taken into custody - along with a group of students who were apparently protesting.
The university says the protest action led to some academic programmes being disrupted.
The institution's Lesiba Seshoka says the situation is now calm, with a strong police presence on the campus.
"The lecturers were with the students outside and the students were beginning to protest, so as they were trying to disperse them eventually they were arrested," he said.
The two lecturers have since been released.
