Two teens killed, another injured in afternoon Durban accidents

A 12-year-old boy has been killed after being hit by a taxi in Pinetown this afternoon.
Initial reports are that the taxi veered off the road and struck two pedestrians - before crashing into a swing set along Mariannridge Drive, near Adams Road.
Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson says there were multiple injuries.
"Paramedics assessed the 12-year-old child and found him to have critical injuries. They tried their level best to stabilize the patient; he went into cardiac arrest. Despite advanced life support interventions resuscitation efforts - the child died at the scene," he said.

The other pedestrian who was knocked down is in a serious condition, and receiving further care in hospital.
A further nine people from the taxi were also injured.

In a separate accident on the Bluff, south of Durban - a 19-year-old man has been killed after his motorbike and a car collided on Bluff Road.
Netcare911's Chris Botha said despite efforts by paramedics to resuscitate him - the patient died at the scene.
"Paramedics worked at scene for over an hour to try and resuscitate the young man, but tragically he died at the scene due to the serious injuries he sustained," he said.
Meanwhile, a 17-year-old boy is in a critical condition after being hit by a vehicle while skateboarding in Umhlanga.
