In a joint operation between the SAPS and the US Department of Homeland Security, police traced the first suspect to Umbilo on Tuesday.

The 58-year-old man was found in possession of hundreds of images and videos of children.

The next day, a 62-year-old man was arrested in the same area, and thousands of child porn images and videos seized.

Police say social workers removed two young aged four months and six-years-old from the property during the operation.

The SPCA was also called in to take into their care a dog and kitten said to have been neglected.

The two men appeared in court and were remanded in custody.

Their arrests bring to 13, the number of suspects apprehended in South Africa in the joint operation.

"Being in possession, accessing, downloading, facilitating, viewing and manufacturing of child porn is a crime in South Africa. Our priority as the South African Police Service is to protect our women, children and vulnerable groups against those that perpetrate violence and crimes against them", said Commissioner Masemola.
