Two robbery suspects killed in Newlands East shootout

Two suspected robbers have been killed in a shootout with police in the north of Durban.
They are believed to have been part of a trio that robbed a courier vehicle on the N2 in Paddock on the south coast on Wednesday.
Several electronic devices were taken.

KZN police spokesperson Jay Naicker says officers traced the suspects to Newlands East where they were found offloading the suspected loot.
"The suspects opened fire at police officers and a shootout ensued. During the shootout, two suspects were fatally wounded and a third was arrested.
"Police recovered two firearms at the scene. The scene has been cornered off has forensic experts have been summoned. The Independent Police Investigative Directorate has been contacted."
