Two Pinetown crashes claim two lives
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Two women have been killed in two separate accidents in Pinetown today.
In the first incident early this evening, a woman died following a crash involving several vehicles in Pinetown.
Netcare 911's Chris Botha says the latest crash happened on the M7 near Moseley Park.
"It appears that one vehicle was travelling towards Pinetown when it veered across the road and collided with three other vehicles. Paramedics, the Netcare 911 rescue unit and the Fire Department arrived at the scene and found absolute carnage. The lanes on both sides were blocked off by accident debris. After they investigated, they found that one female tragically died", he said.
Botha says the woman died due to the severe injuries she sustained in the accident.
Four other people were found trapped in the wreckage. They were extricated from their cars and once stabilised, taken to hospital.

Meanwhile, another woman died after a minibus taxi an embankment on Intake Road near Mariannhill, this afternoon.
It's believed the driver lost control of the vehicle while travelling down a steep stretch on Intake Road.
Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson says 12 other people were seriously hurt in the crash.
"The patients were fortunately brought up to the landing between the roadway and where the taxi landed. They were carried up by the Fire Department and paramedics", he said.
Jamieson says no other vehicles were involved.
The road had to be closed for some time. The cause of the two accidents is being investigated.
