Two killed after suspected hijacker crashes into pedestrians in Chatsworth

KZN police are searching for a suspect believed to be involved in a hit-and-run incident that resulted in two deaths in Chatsworth, south of Durban.
Two pedestrians were killed after a suspected hijacker lost control of the stolen car he was driving and ploughed into them.
The incident occurred outside the SAPS Training College in Unit 9 in the early hours of this morning, also left a third pedestrian in a critical condition in hospital.
Police spokesperson Thulani Zwane says officers gave chase after positively identifying the vehicle.

"It is alleged the driver of the vehicle lost control and collided into two pedestrians who were walking along the road. They both died instantly. The suspect left the vehicle abandoned and fled on foot. Until now, they are not yet arrested and they are still at large," he said.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the area as Road 901 could be closed for several hours.
