Paramedics rushed two men to hospital after they were shot and injured in the west of Durban.

ALS Paramedics were among the emergency services that attended the scene in Westmead on Friday morning.


Spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson, says emergency services found two men inside a vehicle riddled with bullets on Suzuka Road.


"One of the patients was in a critical condition and was stabilised on scene by Meditech and Netcare911 paramedics. Due to the severity of his injuries, a decision was made to call in the Netcare911 aeromedical helicopter to rapidly transport the man to a Level 1 Trauma Unit for the urgent care that he required.

"The second man was stabilised on scene by ALS Paramedics before being rushed to a nearby hospital for the further care he required. 


"The entire roadway was closed off to allow emergency personnel as well as SAPS to investigate. At this stage, the events leading up to the shooting are unknown, however SAPS will be investigating further."


The victims are believed to be in their forties.
