Two drivers critical after M4 head-on collision

Two vehicles have collided head-on on the M4 Southbound between Umhlanga and La Lucia.

Garrith Jamieson who's with Rescue Care says the drivers of both cars sustained serious injuries and received treatment on scene.
"At this stage, it is unclear what caused the collision. However, SAPS is on scene and will be investigating further. Traffic has been severely affected and I'd advise all listeners to avoid the M4 at all cost," he said.

Meanwhile, a helicopter has airlifted an injured patient after a a crash on the N2 Southbound, between the KwaMashu and Queen Nandi off-ramps.
Metro police say there remains traffic delays in the area.
UPDATE - The accident scene on the M4 Southbound has been cleared - all lanes are opened.
