A bus crash in Ixopo has left over 50 people injured including two children.
Craig Botha, who is with KwaZulu-Natal Private Ambulance Service, says the vehicle had overturned on the R56 near Umkomaas Valley.
While the cause of the crash isn't clear, reports from the scene are that the driver may've lost control of the vehicle on Monday night.
The youngest victim was an 18-month-old toddler.
"Paramedics quickly assessed the scene and found that 58 patients had sustained injuries. Ten of which sustained critical injuries, 26 patients sustained serious injuries and 22 patients sustained minor injuries,” says Botha.
"Amongst the injured were two children. The patients were treated on scene before being transported to hospital for by multiple Ambulance services.
"The cause of the collision is not known, but authorities are on scene investigating."
This is the second collision involving a passenger bus in a week.
Ten people lost their lives last Tuesday, when the Eldo Coaches vehicle they were travelling in crashed on the N3 near Bergville.
