The first took place in Marianhill where a taxi crashed into a boundary wall in Rudloff Road. According to ER24 emergency services 5 occupants were found sitting along the side of the house. Fortunately they had sustained minor injuries and were treated on scene.

In another incident 8 people sustained injuries after 2 taxis collided with each other off the N3 in Hammarsdale. According to the service one occupant had to be freed from the vehicle using Jaws of life. She was found to have sustained serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

And 8 people sustained minor to moderate injuries when a vehicle left the road and went several metres down an embankment on Sweetwaters Road in Edendale. Amongst those hurt were 2 young children. They were all treated on scene and taken to hospital.

The service's Chitra Bodasing says with warnings of severe weather conditions expected they anticipate difficult conditions on the road and urges motorists to be careful.

"The exact cause of all the incidents is unknown. We urge people to be careful while driving. We urge them not to drink and drive. Also make sure that you keep a safe following distance and avoid road rage, especially with the weather conditions expected over the next few days," she said.

"Also ensure that your wipers are working and that your car is roadworthy," Bodasing said.
