Murder-accused in Tshegofatso Pule case abandons bail

A 31-year-old man has appeared in court for the murder of Tshegofatso Pule.
Muzikayise Malephane appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrates court charged with the premeditated murder of 28-year-old Tshegofatso Pule.
Pule who was eight months pregnant was found hanging from a tree last week.
The case has been postponed until 24 June, for the suspect to get legal representation.
He has indicated that he will not be applying for bail.

Meanwhile, Premier Sihle Zikalala says gender-based violence must be tackled head-on.
In his address to the youth – the premier lamented the growing number of women and girls dying at the hands of me.
"It's one of the challenges which requires all of us to stand up, unite and uproot from our communities.
"We must work with police to fight GBV, but we must equally work together to bring back morals amongst our people and build Ubuntu."
