Trump's denial of climate change a concern for South Africa: Activist
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
Local environmental and community organisations are calling on the US to honour the Paris Climate Change Agreement - labelling America one of the biggest emitters of harmful gasses.
Earthlife Africa, the South Durban Community Environmental Alliance, Daikonia Council of Churches and Greenpeace Durban held a march at the weekend - following the inauguration of President Donald Trump.

Millions of people in the US and across the globe took to the streets under the banners of their respective causes - while Trump was being sworn-in on Friday, and on his first day in office on Saturday.
Earthlife Africa's Alice Thomson says they're concerned by the Trump administration's stance on climate change.
"Trump has actually come out and denied climate change, he says it's a hoax. We are very concerned about the impacts of climate change, we've already seen it in KZN - with droughts, flooding and storms," she says.
Thomson says it's the poor who are most affected by the impacts of climate change.
"It has a huge impact especially on the poor, because it's become more difficult to grow food and food prices keep going up. And yet the US wants to pull out of the climate change agreement," she said.
The organisations handed over their memorandum to the American Consulate in Durban this morning.
