The ministers of Transport, Employment and Labour, Home Affairs and Police are holding talks in Midrand with officials from the transport and logistics sector.

It follows the recent blockades of key national roads by truck drivers protesting the hiring of foreign nationals over South Africans.

The forum's secretary Sfiso Nyathi says these meetings have never been fruitful.

"Labour says its an issue for transport. Transport says it an issue for Home Affairs. They going back and forth. It started on the 11th of February 2019, Mr Blade Nzimande said he will commit although it is not his department that should be accountable for that.

"When drivers block the road transport should be accountable because it's his department. So he will commit for that issue of employment although for labour. It started from there."
