Tributes are being
paid to state capture whistleblower and former MP Vytjie Mentor.

Her political party ActionSA says her family confirmed she passed away on Tuesday morning at the age of 58 after battling a long illness.
Mentor’s been lauded for her courage in reporting corruption, with the Defend Our Democracy campaign highlighting her appeal to the government to strengthen whistleblower protection.

Mentor gave evidence before the commission of inquiry into state capture ActionSA's chairperson in the Western Cape.
She is also a former ANC MP.
"Vytjie has been ill for some time and this morning her family has called tell us that she has succumbed to the illness after being hospitalised for several months,” says ActionSA spokesperson Lerato Ngobeni.
“It will never be forgotten that Vytjie was the first to sound the alarm on what we call today the state capture. She was a true patriot who served the country even in the face of criticism.”
