Rest, my brother. One day I shall write about what you said to me the first time I walked into the SABC fresh from Rhodes University. I had nothing, but a dream and a qualification. I’m too shattered right now to tell the story. Rest, bhuti💔💔💔💔💔#RIPXolaniGwala pic.twitter.com/9anhfEt0a9

We lost the GOAT of broadcast journalism in SA. He gave us his best current affairs news in English and in isiZulu, with my absolute fav, Asikhulume-Let's Talk, which made my whole Sunday childhood.

Today is such a sad day for journalism as a great tree falls. Really sad to hear that Xolani Gwala has passed on. At a time when journalism is called into question as a result of many stories of kick backs and shady journos, a real G leaves us. #RIPXolaniGwala pic.twitter.com/P9obbheZCZ
