Trial date set for Booysen case
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
The case against the embattled KZN Hawks Head Johan Booysen and 27 others has been set down for trial.
The members of the now disbanded Cato Manor Serious and Violent Crimes Unit made a brief appearance at the Durban High Court this morning on charges of racketeering.
A trial date has been set down for January 30 to April 3 next year.
Legal counsel representing Booysen, his 27 co-accused and the state agreed that any new applications brought forward before the trial, should be finalized before the last session of the court on December 15 to ensure that the trial proceeds uninterrupted.
Bail was extended today for all the accused. Booyen previously won several court challenges, but the NPA maintains that he and his co-accused have a case to answer.
