Speaking at the National Coronavirus Command Council briefing in Pretoria on Thursday, Cele said 243 146 arrests have been made since the start of the lockdown.

"241 59 of those people have been processed - they are processed in different ways. Either police give them bail - which they have a legislative right to do - or they are taken to court or warned. 2 807 of them  those cases are still under investigation, and 41 491 have been finalised."

He says 841 police officers have been infected nationally, 601 are in the Western Cape. Eight SAPS members have succumbed to the virus.
