Transport officials establishing cause of N3 crash near Hilton
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
Investigations are underway into the Pietermaritzburg bus crash that claimed the life of a schoolboy yesterday.
The bus had been transporting Michaelhouse's under-16 football teams to Hillcrest when it overturned on the N3.
One of the pupils, Themba Dloti, died of his injuries at the scene. More than forty other schoolboys were hurt.
KZN Transport's Kwanele Ncalane says they are working with the police's collision unit to establish exactly what caused the vehicle to overturn.
"Should it be found that there was any form of negligence, either on the part of the driver or the vehicle's condition, we will be pressing hard for charges to be laid against the driver or owner," he said.

Meanwhile, Maharaj's Coaches, that company that owns the bus, says it will co-operate fully with the authorities as they conduct their investigations.
The company says the bus involved was well maintained and the driver highly experienced.
The company says the crash is the first of its kind during its long association with various colleges in the area.
