Transnet ports puts plan in action to prevent coronavirus in SA

Transnet National Ports Authority says strict measures are in place to ensure the coronavirus does not enter our shores

Today, the World Health Organisation declared the outbreak of the coronavirus - a global health emergency.
As of late - about 10,000 people have been infected across 18 countries and over 200 people have died from the virus
Acting Chief harbour master captain, Sabelo Mdlalose says all foreign vessels entering the ports must get clearance granted.

During this period all South Africans including marine pilots are warned not to consume foods or liquids on board vessels from high risk areas.
"All suspected vessels will be placed under quarantine and clearances received from the relevant authorities.," says Mdlalose.
He adds, "Measures have been put in place to make sure that people are not allowed to interact with suspect results up until those results are cleared."
